Verisk is seeking a motivated Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Finance team based in Krakow. In this role, you will work alongside the Verisk Corporate Accounting teams in the US and globally to provide high-quality customer service to the Verisk business units and management team.
Core Responsibilities
- Review and approve monthly journal entries in Verisk’s accounting system, including accruals, prepayments, B/S and P&L postings.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data in the general ledger according to US GAAP, Corporate Accounting policies, internal SOX control and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate generation of financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with Business Units to complete various SOX controls around Internally Developed Software.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for all responsible SOX controls.
- Support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
- Prepare complex monthly balance sheet reconciliation.
- Review and analyze account reconciliations prepared by junior staff members.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions.
- Actively participate in the monthly closing process, including expense and balance sheet account analysis pertaining to owned areas.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and auditing departments.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the general ledger function.
- Participate in work transition from various locations and lead special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of accounting procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in general ledger.
- Master’s degree in accounting or other relevant field required.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) required; basic German beneficial but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel - extensive knowledge of Pivot Table / Chart, Macros, etc.).
- Excellent communication/documentation skills (oral and written).
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Detail oriented, meticulous, and extremely diligent.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff members.
