As a Senior Accountant within the General Ledger (GL) team, you will play a vital part in Moderna’s international accounting operations, ensuring timely, accurate close submissions and supporting compliance with US GAAP and local statutory requirements. Reporting to the General Accounting Manager, your work will have a direct impact on the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and enable broader organizational growth. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role where your contributions will support legal entities across our global footprint. You’ll bring a sharp eye for process improvements, a readiness to challenge convention, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly scaling environment. Here’s What You’ll Do
  • Executing accurate and timely monthly and quarterly close activities for assigned international legal entities
  • Preparing key journal entries including payroll, accruals, and prepaids with a high degree of precision
  • Managing Fixed Asset accounting and ensuring completeness of asset records
  • Performing balance sheet account reconciliations and in‑depth variance analysis
  • Maintaining and reconciling US GAAP and local statutory records, including identification of local adjustments
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial close processes to support SEC filing timelines
  • Supporting external financial audits and SOX 404 control testing with robust documentation
  • Ensuring all close‑related internal controls are performed, evidenced, and meet compliance standards
Your Responsibilities Will Also Include
  • Partnering closely with US Accounting, Country Finance Leads, and FP&A teams to ensure accurate recording of transactions and accruals
  • Providing strong support to the preparation of statutory financial statements across international legal entities
  • Assisting in the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and digital tools
  • Offering subject‑matter expertise in process and policy discussions, influencing improvements and automation initiatives
  • Contributing to the enhancement of accounting‑related systems with a focus on scalability and efficiency

Here’s What You’ll Bring To The Table
  • 4+ years of accounting experience within the shared service/biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry (required)
  • Experience in Fixed Asset accounting (nice to have)
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls (SOX) (required)
  • Knowledge of life science, as well as commercial and manufacturing accounting transactions
  • Experience with financial systems including SAP, Blackline and Microsoft Suite of products
  • Strong work ethic, self‑motivated, willing to “Roll‑up your sleeves” to drive and deliver results, meet deadlines and improve processes
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams
