 What you’ll do:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FinOps (Financial Operations) Expert to join our team and take charge of optimizing our cloud spending. As a FinOps Expert, you will play a crucial role in structuring and allocating costs, conducting in-depth analysis of usage efficiency, and providing valuable recommendations for cost savings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud services, finance, and a proven track record of optimizing cloud expenses.

Responsibilities:

Cost Structure and Allocation:

• Analyze and categorize cloud expenses to create a transparent cost structure
• Implement effective cost allocation methodologies to attribute expenses to specific projects, teams, or departments
• Conduct thorough analysis of cloud service usage patterns
• Identify areas of over-provisioning, underutilization, and inefficiencies in resource allocation

Cost Optimization:

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud spending without compromising performance or functionality
• Collaborate with technical teams to right-size resources and select cost-effective service options

Forecasting and Budgeting:

• Work closely with finance and project teams to create accurate cloud spending forecasts and budgets
• Provide insights on potential cost variations and deviations from budgeted amounts

Recommendations for Cost Savings:

Regularly assess the latest cloud pricing models and services to identify opportunities for cost savings

• Provide actionable recommendations to management for optimizing expenses
• Engage with cloud service providers to negotiate pricing, discounts, and contract terms
• Stay informed about changes in cloud provider pricing and services.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Generate detailed reports on cloud spending, usage, and optimization efforts
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cost allocation methodologies and optimization strategies

What skills and experience are required for this job:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, IT Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified FinOps Professional) are a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or a related field
• Proven track record of successfully optimizing cloud expenses in a complex, multi-service environment
• Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, services, and architectures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to adapt to changing technology landscapes and evolving best practices in FinOps
