Job Description
Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and accounting representation of business transactions, while maintaining full compliance with relevant laws, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
A key part of the role involves handling tax-related matters across multiple entities within Arelion, supporting the GL Manager and other team members, and collaborating closely with the Global Tax Team to ensure consistency and compliance in tax reporting and filings.
Job Requirements
- Financial Accounting & GL: Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, with hands‑on experience in GL processes and tax‑related entries
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Experience in handling tax matters across multiple entities, including VAT, corporate tax, and statutory filings
- Financial Reporting: Proficiency in preparing accurate financial and tax reports, and understanding how GL processes support overall compliance
- IT and System Knowledge: Familiarity with financial systems and tax reporting tools; experience in maintaining accounting and tax data integrity
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across teams, including finance, tax, and external advisors; capable of explaining complex tax and accounting issues clearly

Know‑how
- Experience: Proven experience 5–10 years in a role with focus on Accounting and the GL process, preferably in a Shared services environment
- Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or relevant professional certification preferred
- Language: English
- IT/Technology: Understanding of financial systems (ERP)
- Special requirements: Experience in month end closing process, Fixed assets and Intercompany
Job Responsibilities
- Review closing entries and items to ensure compliance with accounting policies, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Support the team with complex accounting and tax‑related issues across multiple entities
- Execute tasks within Record‑to‑Report (R2R) and Fixed Asset Accounting, ensuring tax implications are properly reflected
- Examine closing entries for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with both accounting and tax policies
- Manage complex bank movements and disclose special general ledger transactions, including those with tax impact
- Conduct regular sample quality checks for documentation of individual postings, including tax‑relevant entries
- Prepare financial statement notes and tax disclosures based on a structured checklist
- Provide advisory support to operational departments on applicable accounting and tax guidelines
- Review and approve master data maintenance for general ledger accounting, ensuring tax codes and classifications are correct
- Prepare statistical and tax‑related reports for authorities
- Collaborate with the Global Tax Team to ensure alignment on tax treatments, reporting standards, and compliance across jurisdictions
- Proactively engage in optimization initiatives for the end‑to‑end R2R process, including tax process improvements
