Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for an Expert Level Designer to join the development of a new IP.

You will improve, develop, and innovate rendering techniques for AAA titles. You will work closely with engineers and artists to bring excitement to life on the screen.

As a leader on the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

You’ll help us by…

1. Partnering with the Gameplay Director to set the overall vision and direction for combat, mission, and gameplay design.
2. Taking ownership of creating level design principles for the whole game level design – supporting combat encounters, gameplay systems, narrative scenes, world systems, and navigation.
3. Working together with other teams on technical solutions, pipelines, and tools supporting level design implementation.
4. Taking ownership of level design in a gameplay prototype – from ideation to final quality implementation.
5. Supporting hires, training, and mentoring of level designers.
6. Analyzing, pitching, prototyping, and developing missions and open-world content for an unannounced AAA project.
7. Creating one-page designs, mission briefs, system outlines, and whatever other communication tools are necessary for succinctly and effectively communicating vision.
8. Leveraging technical expertise to implement systems in proprietary tools.
9. Collaborating with multiple disciplines, ensuring partners are involved and informed throughout development.
10. Providing regular active feedback across all of your features, and across the game as a whole.
11. Remaining current on industry trends including new game genres, new game design techniques, and trending audio-visual excellence.

You’re awesome because you have…

1. 6+ years of experience shipping AAA titles in lead level design roles.
2. Proven experience driving level design teams and technical pipelines.
3. Ability to communicate design vision and to align vision within the team.
4. Experience with versatile game development tools such as Unity, Unreal, or similar proprietary tools.
5. Extensive player experience with games, including action, RPG, open world, and online titles.
6. Extraordinary self-motivation and initiative, and a positive attitude in the face of challenges.

Bonus points for…

1. Major recognition in your field of work.
2. Experience in adjacent disciplines such as quest design, environment art, programming, etc.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
