Equipment Classification Manager – GE Vernova Grid Solutions
Overview
For GE Vernova Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, especially in Europe where Transmission System Operators have ambitious renewable energy targets. In Germany, Grid Solutions partners with TenneT and 50 Hertz to invest over $30 B by 2030 in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring offshore wind into Germany and the Netherlands. This role oversees equipment classification and item designations across several mega‑HVDC projects (contract value > $1 B).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of item designation standards (e.g. RDS‑PP)
- Collect, process and store item designations in compliance with company standards
- Maintain the equipment/item register in a database and/or Excel
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align data practices with project requirements
- Handle asset register tools and the entire data lifecycle from collection to disposal and archival
- Document and maintain comprehensive records of item designation processing activities
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, customers and suppliers to ensure smooth implementation of the asset register and item designation process
- Produce storytelling and presentation materials for item designation processes to key contacts at customers and suppliers
- Submit deliverables and exchange processes in line with customer requirements
Required Qualifications
- Experience in creating and managing item designations for equipment systems across multiple engineering disciplines (primary HV, LV, electrical distribution, automation systems)
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent); minimum 2 years full‑time experience in relevant job family/group/function
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to document, plan, market and execute programs
- Proficiency in Excel and other database management tools
- English language proficiency (mandatory); German proficiency desirable given major customer contacts
