Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements management systems to provide high levels of EHS protection across multiple manufacturing sites in the EMEA region. Implements the highest EHS standards and ensures compliance with all country and local laws at both existing and new facilities. Responsible for instilling a corporate culture that incorporates compliance with good EHS practices within normal business activities. Facilitates and promotes integration of environmental sustainability into Operations functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and provides oversight for EHS Policy and Corporate EHS Management System procedures. Drives consistent practices across multiple sites.
- Advises management and collaborates with site EHS staff to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company EHS requirements.
- Evaluates significant accident and hazard investigations and recommends corrective actions.
- Maintains an effective internal EHS audit program.
- Monitors delivery of effective EHS-related training for all sites and facilitates development of corporate training programs as appropriate.
- Supports legal department with risk control and processing activities.
- Provides guidance regarding major facility renovations and process modifications to ensure EHS issues are addressed.
- Establishes requirements for necessary EHS-related documentation and coordinates the collection and distribution of EHS metric data to drive performance improvement.
- Promotes EHS programs through internal publications. Encourages consideration of EHS impact during decision-making processes and integration of EHS responsibilities into daily activities.
- Develops and promotes environmental sustainability strategy.
- Maintains EHS section of company external internet web page and coordinates responses to external queries about our EHS Management System.
- Coordinates EHS due diligence for potential acquisitions and divestitures and manages EHS integration of acquisitions in a timely manner.
Expected Areas of Competence - Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Safety Programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to balance assertiveness, influencing, and collaboration.
- International and European regulation knowledge and/or certifications.
- Auditing and Program Management skills.
Education/ Experience Requirements - Bachelors Degree in Safety/Environmental Management or equivalent.
- At least eight years of progressive EHS experience within a regulated environment.
- At least six years of experience managing Health and Safety programs in a manufacturing plant environment.
- A combination of commensurate education, experience, and technical certifications may be considered in lieu of the minimum qualifications.
Travel Requirements - Approximately 25%, primarily to supported manufacturing locations.
