Role Overview
- Technical leadership: Serve as the technical expert of the project and solve cross‑competency issues within Engineering.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Act as the single point of contact to Customer and internal PM organization for the engineering project timing plan and execution of all engineering activities and deliverables, supervising sub‑teams. Collaborate with the Engineering Program Leader to manage deliverables on time, on cost and on quality levels with supporting documentation.
- Team management: Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams of engineers specializing in embedded systems, software‑ and hardware‑development, and test and verification.
- Customer engagement: Work with Volvo Cars and all Commercial Vehicle OEMs in Europe (Volvo Truck, Daimler Truck, Traton and Iveco). The team consists of 4 Engineering Program Leaders, each responsible for one customer, supported by 12 Engineering Project Leaders.
Product and Projects
We develop Android‑based Infotainment products and supply ADAS technologies such as Driver Monitoring Systems and Radars to support road safety for our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain compliant Engineering deliverables timing for HW, Validation, SW, Systems in collaboration with Program Management.
- Monitor engineering execution to ensure adherence to standard work and best practices; ensure compliance with applicable organization policies and procedures.
- Own customer problem troubleshooting and drive corrective action.
- Coordinate and deliver product solution hand‑over to customer at milestones.
- Participate in Big Room Planning, Program Iteration Demo and Retro.
- Provide Engineering budget input for BBP cycle: resource demand, capital expense, material, credits.
- Manage Engineering spend against approved budget and assigned projects.
- Handle BOM cost and stretch and related technical topics.
- Prepare and execute Design Reviews & Peer Reviews; ensure completeness of the Design Review workbook under the PDP process.
- Maintain the Technical Risk Register: identify risks, scope changes, evaluate, rate, develop action plans, change points and manage contingency plans.
- Ensure engineering competencies consider Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Approve Start/Stop/Change/Signoff of engineering activity at the project/component level work packages.
Your Background and Required Skills
- Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant years of experience.
- Preferred 10 years of experience in Development of Electronic Control (Systems Engineering, Hard‑ & Software Engineering), ideally in the Automotive Domain.
- Product Development Process knowledge and experience.
- Proficiency in technical reporting and summarizing.
- Ability to work in a virtual team environment.
- Ability to network & collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Team oriented and self‑driven.
- Planning / organizing skills.
- Customer contact experience.
- Integrity in relation with company, clients and co‑operators.
- Understanding and application of Servant Leadership.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
