Engineering Manager (Machine Learning Engineering)
Join Tesco Technology as an Engineering Manager in our Data & Analytics team. Lead a cross‑functional team of software engineers and data scientists to deliver robust data science products that scale across Tesco’s retail, online, fulfilment and CRM operations.
About the role
As a Software Development Manager in Data Science Engineering, you will manage a passionate and high‑performing development team. You are responsible for the complete software lifecycle, maintaining a DevOps culture and enabling continuous integration and delivery. Your work spans the entire data platform ecosystem, bringing together engineering best practices, MLOps, and scalable architecture.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain an engaged development team, coaching and nurturing growth, while keeping close involvement with code without becoming a blocker.
- Drive engineering excellence across data science products, promote MLOps practices, and deliver quality production software.
- Work closely with Product Management to minimise risk, prioritise technical solutions and deliver outcomes.
- Contribute to system design, architecture, and platform strategy discussions.
- Build globally consistent approaches across all Tesco locations.
- Inspire teams to produce quality solutions and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in engineering hiring and help build diverse teams.
- Continuously improve technology, processes and practices; stay updated on emerging tools.
Experience & Qualifications
- Management of software engineering teams.
- Track record of driving technical excellence and change.
- Experience in global distributed teams.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle.
- Experience with Scrum & Kanban.
- ML engineering – feature engineering, versioning, packaging, training and deployment.
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks, microservices, event sourcing, and containerisation.
- Knowledge of automation, configuration management, multi‑cloud, IAAS, PAAS.
- Experience in enterprise integration patterns and system architecture.

Salary & Working Arrangement
Salary (UoP): 31 000 – 40 000 PLN gross per month
Hybrid Working: Role requires working 60 % of the week (3 days) in Kraków office, remaining remote.
