About the Role
- Own the contracts and integration layer between all client applications and backend APIs
- Standardize how desktop, mobile, and web apps interact with backend services
- Lead technical discussions and advocate for client‑side requirements in architectural decisions
- Drive proactive communication with backend teams rather than passive consumption
- Make strategic decisions on API consumption patterns and client architecture
- Mentor engineers across iOS (native/Swift), Android (native), desktop (.NET/Windows), and web (Express.js/TypeScript)
- Transform the team from passive implementers to active stakeholders in platform decisions
- Lead initiatives like major API migrations (REST to GraphQL, etc.)
Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven experience owning large‑scale client applications with complex API integrations
- Deep understanding of API contracts, integration patterns, and client‑server architecture
- Experience leading technical initiatives that span multiple platforms
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions
Comfortable with ambiguity across multiple technology stacks
Background Preferences
- Senior mobile engineering with extensive API/backend integration work, OR
- Full‑stack engineering with end‑to‑end system ownership, OR
- Platform engineering focused on client‑side systems
Bonus Points
- Experience with API migration projects (REST to GraphQL, etc.)
- Familiarity with multiple client platforms (iOS, Android, desktop, web)
- Background in developer tooling or SDK development
- Golang knowledge (team works closely with Golang backend)
- Previous team lead or technical leadership experience
