Engineering Manager

• Demonstrate high-quality engineering, leading by example (hands-on). Embody what a world-class engineer should be.
• Act as a primary point of contact for any inquiries from different stakeholders, providing clear visibility of work programs (what and why), provide guidance on options & priorities, train and mentor new joiners, supporting their understanding of trading at IG, and ensuring a smooth learning curve.
• Partner with the other engineering leads in UK Tech. Guide and support them in terms of technical & operational risks and engineering quality.
• Provide regular reporting & objective metrics on availability, technical risks, project progress to technical and commercial stakeholders.

Your team

The Trading, Availability and Security Team manages, enhances, and owns trading-middleware services for IGs dealing platform. The team also leads on improving engineering quality within the UK Tech division, to make our applications ever safer and easier to support.

Your role in the Teams Success

Your primary responsibility will be to own, extend and support the Trading Middleware services, which are critical components of IGs real-time dealing platform. You will deliver business enhancements, alongside technical improvements.

You will also oversee and coordinate engineering quality improvements for the wider UK Tech department, delivering ever-higher-quality applications, lowering the cost of support, and keeping tech debt under control. You will apply a commercial lens to your teams focus, prioritising the things that will enable better commercial outcomes.
