We are recruiting for a Module Designer to work on a fixed term contract to cover Maternity leave. In this role you will be responsible for the ownership of gearbox module mechanical designs for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and quality standards.

This role focuses on creating innovative designs for next-generation aerospace products, leveraging advanced engineering tools, materials, and methodologies to optimise performance and manufacturability. You’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management, to ensure designs align with customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and project timelines.

Please note this is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave; we anticipate the contract to run until July or August 2026.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Ownership of gearbox module mechanical designs for NPI programs
• Designing full gearbox layout and collaborating with component design engineers
• Execution of the design and evaluation of business‑critical projects using sound engineering principles, and adhering to business standards and program requirements
• Recommend approach to meet technical and program requirements; implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments
• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated to substantiate architecture performance and assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures
• Collaboration with cross‑functional teams including Aero engineering, Thermal sciences, Materials engineering, Test engineering, Systems engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Drafting
• Monitor and effectively communicate project status, issues and significant developments
• Lead module design efforts, participate in analysis and manufacturing technology, quality, productivity and other initiatives
• Support System Engineer on trade studies and layout definition in early phases of NPI
• Issue technical documents (e.g., reports, specifications) and carry out analysis relevant to component design
• Support design reviews and validation/certification/testing activities
• Proactively liaise with other company functions and suppliers to achieve manufacturability and cost targets
• Continue to build technical knowledge expertise in aeronautical gearbox components
• Lead lean projects across the organization

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor/Master of Mechanical Engineering/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
• Experience with mechanical design of complex structures
• Ability to build and calculate complex stack‑ups
• Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Unigraphics NX)
• English language knowledge, both written and oral (Italian language will be an advantage)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to perform in an international team environment
