Summary

The Category Manager is responsible for development and execution of best-in-class sourcing strategies for the Resin category, providing leadership, critical thinking, and expertise on Resin categories to advance Baxter Global Business Units (GBUs) mission agenda to “Sustain and Save Lives”.

What will you be doing?

1. Developing and maintaining global market knowledge of assigned commodities, supplier technologies, and manufacturing processes.
2. Acting as a resource to operations teams using procurement knowledge.
3. Defining global subcategory segmentation and recommending consolidation strategies to leverage business volumes.
4. Implementing assigned commodity strategy based on regional markets, suppliers, and plants.
5. Analyzing competitive manufacturing costs and suggesting strategies to decrease expenditure.
6. Crafting cost-saving opportunities through competitive bidding, supplier development, and continuous improvements.
7. Improving and supervising suppliers’ performance, establishing service levels, and ensuring timely resolution of disputes.
8. Negotiating contracts, supporting supplier recovery plans, working with critical suppliers, leading sourcing projects, managing supplier relationships, and supporting business objectives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors Degree; MBA desirable. CPM preferred.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in Procurement or related fields.
3. Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million-dollar contracts and agreements and major policies.
4. Risk management skills required to drive innovative solutions and problem-solving analysis and resolution.
5. Seasoned negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, complex RFQ’s, and innovative purchasing tools.
6. Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure.
7. High-level technical proficiency. Engineering or other technical training preferred.
8. In-depth understanding in building category strategies and sophisticated pricing arrangements and supplier profitability.
9. Various types of raw material resin, colorants, and plastic knowledge are preferred.
10. Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, corrective and preventative action, product quality assurance systems, and supplier performance development and evaluation is helpful.
11. Proficient English is a must.
12. Travel of 20-30% including global travel may be required.
