Position Overview

The Electrical Site Engineer will be responsible for the supervision, inspection, and coordination of all electrical installation works on site. The role ensures that all electrical systems—including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, cable routing, grounding systems, instrumentation interfaces, and generator auxiliary equipment—are installed and tested in accordance with design, safety standards, and project requirements.

The position sits within the site construction team and works closely with subcontractors, QA/QC, commissioning, HSE, and engineering departments.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Construction & Installation

  • Supervise the installation of electrical systems including:
  • MV and LV switchgear
  • Transformers and auxiliary power systems
  • MCCs, UPS, emergency power, lighting systems
  • Cable trays, cable pulling, terminations, and splicing
  • Earthing & bonding systems
  • Control cabinets and field instrumentation interfaces
  • Verify compliance with electrical drawings, SLDs, layouts, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Inspect installation quality, clearances, equipment alignment, torqueing, labeling, and protection-device configuration.

Coordination & Site Management

  • Coordinate daily electrical activities with subcontractors and provide technical guidance.
  • Attend daily/weekly coordination meetings with mechanical, civil, commissioning, planning, and HSE teams.
  • Manage site constraints, resolve technical issues, and escalate engineering queries (RFIs) when required.
  • Support material control, equipment deliveries, and verification of electrical components on site.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Review and approve electrical ITPs, test plans, and method statements.

Perform inspections, punch lists, system walk-downs, and prepare as-built documentation.

Ensure documentation compliance for turnover packages (TOPs) and system handovers.

Testing, Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Support

  • Cable continuity & insulation resistance tests
  • High-pot and VLF testing (where applicable)
  • Relay testing and functional checks
  • Transformer and switchgear testing
  • Loop checks and I/O verification
  • Energization procedures for LV and MV systems
  • Coordinate with the commissioning team during system energization, load tests, and synchronization activities.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all electrical activities comply with the project’s HSE standards and applicable EU/Polish electrical codes.
  • Support permit-to-work processes, especially for live-working, high-voltage areas, and energization sequences.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessment reviews (RAMS) related to electrical installation works.
  • Reporting & Project Control
  • Monitor progress of electrical installation works and report deviations from the schedule.
  • Update logs for equipment installation, testing activities, cable progress, and energization milestones.
  • Provide input for progress reports, daily site reports, and subcontractor evaluations.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3–10+ years of electrical construction experience on power plants, industrial facilities, oil & gas, or EPC mega-projects.
  • Strong understanding of MV/LV electrical systems, grounding, electrical protection, and power distribution.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings (SLD, schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams).
  • Experience supervising cable pulling, termination, electrical equipment installation, and electrical testing.
  • Good command of English.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience on CCGT or other power-plant projects.
  • Familiarity with project documentation formats (advantage but not required).
