Electrical engineer / LNP lead nominated person responsible for generating, developing and controlling our Safe system of work for hazardous energies on offshore projects.

For our Hazardous Energy department, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Offshore Construction team in Gdansk, Poland to generate and manage a Safe System of Work, the COHE function on our offshore projects, and to produce documentation of on-site safety procedures. The Electrical Engineer will operate as the Lead Nominated Person and hence undertake operational and technical responsibility for Hazardous Energies, delegated for Offshore Construction of our offshore wind turbine installations. This role is office-based in Gdansk but there will be occasional site visits to both pre-assembly sites and offshore sites.

How to contribute to our vision

The Lead Nominated Person is to provide support for the project by ensuring that a safe system of work is available and in place for the Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE). The primary purpose of the safe system of work is to ensure that a safe working environment is established for hazardous energies prior to work commencing.

Your role will consist of:

  1. Assisting construction project management in preparing project-specific documentation.
  2. Verifying generic isolation points against project-specific documentation.
  3. Preparing the sites LWP (Live Work Permit) templates and EIP (Energy Isolation Procedures) packages.
  4. Ensuring that the correct LWP templates and EIPs are available for the nominated personnel.
  5. Supervising the CoHE instruction and the CoHE log.
  6. Being the site contact person to the ENR team.
  7. Carrying out appropriate training as required for CoHE.
  8. Ensuring appropriate numbers of training sessions are in place for the project to utilize regarding CoHE training.
  9. Ensuring that the safe system of work is being utilized correctly on the project, that procedures are being adhered to, and that documentation is being checked periodically for compliance.
  10. Ensuring (if contractually applicable) that suitable LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) equipment/PPE is available for projects to utilize for works with hazardous energies.
  11. Performing second reviews and/or releases of LWP templates and EIPs.
  12. Travelling to sites.

What you need to make a difference

You will report daily to the Polish office in Gdansk, speak fluent Polish and English. This role is based in Poland and no relocation package is attached to this post. You should either be a certified electrician or have a degree in electrical engineering combined with operational field experience. Experience with electrical, control systems is essential and experience with hydraulic and mechanical systems would be beneficial.

You must be able to interact with stakeholders high and low in the organization as well as external stakeholders and clients. You should be motivated by providing quality results within deadlines and be happy to work in a dynamic organization and environment. Experience in project management or leadership is considered a big advantage.

In addition, you should:

  1. Be able to read/understand electrical diagrams, P&ID etc.
  2. Pro-actively seek to bring new ideas for improving technology (solutions, process, models, tools, etc.)
  3. Be safety and quality conscious with a methodological approach to your tasks.
  4. Be outgoing, proactive, and possess the ability to work both independently and in teams.
  5. Be self-driven with a sharp eye for detail.
  6. Be willing to travel 30-40 days a year.
  7. Possess technically strong and commercially viable task-solving skills.
  8. Finally, it is important you have excellent Polish and English language skills, both written and spoken.
