EIB Trainee – Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate – Equity and Growth Capital Division – Luxembourg

The position is based at the EIB Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026). With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.

Eligibility

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior officers in monitoring activities including financial analysis, valuations, internal and external reports, correspondence preparation, client communication, and maintaining a monitoring database for the team’s equity‑related portfolio.
  • Contribute to monitoring activities of their portfolio of operations: following up on delivery of and review of the financial statements received from borrowers, preparation of financial analysis and the related counterparty reviews including review of scoring and KYC update.
  • Resolve post signature events: perform analysis of proposals for changes/decisions submitted by borrowers for discussion/decision of the Bank. Analysis may include financial review, review of legal documentation, and result in formulation and processing/implementing internally event resolutions.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or university degree preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Law and/or supplemented by relevant training in financial sector analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Understanding of the EIB mission and activities as well as the operating and political framework in which the Bank operates.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
