Overall Purpose of The Job: The role is accountable for the end‑to‑end process of employing seafarers under a Direct Employment model. This covers all aspects of the employment lifecycle from making offers of employment to terminating employment. The role will be responsible for a subset of employees/vessels and work as part of a wider team, providing the Group and its customers a direct employment solution.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Serve as escalation point for seafarer queries and contact for senior officer queries ensuring these queries are resolved within the agreed turn‑around time.
- Proactively identify crew retention risks and issues, and work with appropriate stakeholders to mitigate the risks and address issues.
- Preparing and issuing employment contracts.
- Circulating employee communications on behalf of VGGS.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local regulatory requirements for seafarers under VGGS employment, including all reporting and vendors:
- Flag state/CBA
- Payroll and tax
- Employment benefits and pension
- Ensures that all pre‑joining documents are complete, checked, and verified as genuine as per the applicable requirements.
- Ensures all required documents are digitally captured in ShipSure on time and drives diligent usage of ShipSure as the “system of record” for all Direct Employment activities.
- May be the point of escalation for CMPs on ensuring flawless service is consistently delivered to customers, particularly mobilization matters.
- Manage performance disputes, termination procedures and employment appeals.
- May represent the local entity as official representative of the company to government institutions (e.g., POEA), as relevant.
- Provides technical support and guidance to Crew Mobilization Managers and Coordinators.

Essential Qualifications
- Over 5 years of maritime or shipping industry experience as a supplier, manager or owner.
- Strong understanding of crew operations, including government requirements for location.
- Shows a strong sense of urgency to meet customer requirements.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills with the ability to make change happen.
- Effective and positive communicator and team player/leader.
- Ability to plan tasks and follow tight timelines when required.
- Willingness to follow the agreed process.
