We are looking for DevOps Engineer (DataBase) to join Sopra Steria Polska and one of our innovative international squads located in Belgic and Poland. You will play a pivotal role in the delivery of our database services across cloud and on-premises environments. This team is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the full lifecycle of database solutions.
Note that we can only offer cooperation to people who are located in Poland and have EU citizenship.
Tech stack on the project: Python, Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS and Kubernetes.
responsibilities :
Collaborate with team members to write efficient, reusable, and maintainable code.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing services by identifying opportunities for optimization.
Write unit tests and integration tests where necessary to increase the confidence during development and deployment of the code.
Collaborate with team members to build, maintain, and optimise pipelines (build, test, deploy, rollback) for database service automation code in GitLab.
Develop and manage Kubernetes Custom Resource Definitions (XRDs) and utilise crossplane to deploy databases across cloud and on-prem environments.
Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting to automate environment provisioning, configuration, patching, backups, DR testing, and routine operational tasks.
Suggest and implement automation of deployment and configuration tasks, including automated deployment strategies (blue/green, canary).
Document infrastructure, code, scripts, and configurations to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer within the squad.
Administer and automate Oracle and PostgreSQL operational tasks, including migrations, backups/restores, replication, upgrades, and performance tuning in both cloud and on-prem setups
requirements-expected :
Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Bash scripting.
Solid hands‑on experience in Database Operations, especially with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
Extensive experience working with AWS core services, including: RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, ALB/NLB, S3, EKS/ECS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.
Practical experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible.
Experience in CI/CD processes using GitLab or Jenkins.
Familiarity with on‑premise virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM, Nutanix.
EU citizenship
Fluent English: B2/C1.
Being open to occasional business trips abroad and visits in our office in Katowice.
