Íslandsbanki is looking for a positive, driven and ambitious person for a Data Science position.

As a Data Scientist, you will play an important role when it comes to applying machine learning and other advanced data techniques, along with statistical analysis, to solve complex business problems.

You will participate in a cross-functional collaboration, developing, implementing and maintaining predictive models and analytical solutions that improve our customers experience as well as the bank processes.

Main tasks

• Participate in a variety of cross-functional machine learning projects that help improve customer experience and the bank internal processes, such as anti-money laundering, fraud detection, customer segmentation, product recommendation, loan approvals etc.
• Prepare and organizing data, select models and evaluate their performance.
• Develop, implement and iterate algorithms and predictive models that support a variety of business functions.
• Present complex analytical results clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
• Closely collaborate with other members of the data team on developing modern and scalable data environment
• Keep a close eye on recent developments in data science and machine learning and consider how those can be applied within the bank.

Requirments:

• A positive mindset, show of initiative and independence
• Masters degree or higher in data science, statistics, physics, computer science or a related field
• Considerable experience in a data science or machine learning role
• Very strong Python skills
• Strong experience with ML environments and collections (e.g. sciket-larn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Very strong SQL skills
• Experience working in an Azure Machine Learning environment.
• Strong experience working with different datasources, such as relational databases, data lakes, files and web services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skillset, with a solid understanding of statistical analysis and data analysis techniques.
• The ability to work on a team, and to be able to manage more than one project at a time.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to respectfully explain technical terms to stakeholders and produce insights.

Desirable traits:

• Knowledge and understanding of the operations of financial firms.
• Experience working with a medley of data tools within the Azure cloud environment.
• A great sense of humor
