Data Modeller 

About the Team

The CIB Data & Analytics IT team is responsible for defining data management architecture principles and best practices across the CIB IT landscape, as well as delivering core data services to support business needs. The team develops high-quality, enterprise-grade software in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Purpose of the Role

The Data Modeller will act as a key advisor in data management, supporting project teams and the architecture community. The role involves creating various data models, providing best-practice guidance, and contributing to strategic data design. Collaboration with data architects, system architects, and CDAO teams is central to the position.


  • Proven experience in logical data modelling and adherence to governance standards
  • Strong conceptual and logical thinking skills, with the ability to abstract information and see the bigger picture
  • Experience designing enterprise-level logical models and applying abstraction techniques
  • Knowledge of industry models/standards such as BIAN, FSDM, BDW
  • Ability to balance analytical depth with delivery momentum, demonstrating continual value from the modelling process
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge designs and decisions
  • Ability to resolve complex issues using structured problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to quickly understand complex data landscapes and apply analysis in new contexts
  • Strong relationship-building skills, motivation and a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including virtual communication (calls, video conferences)
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills, with the ability to obtain agreement from diverse audiences
  • Strong planning, organisational and time management skills; ability to work to deadlines

  • A continuous improvement mindset and understanding of change implementation mechanisms

Relevant Experience

  • Experience in Financial Services, particularly within data-related domains (Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Governance)
  • Knowledge of data management tools and techniques
  • Working knowledge of data modelling tools (e.g., Visual Paradigm, IBM Infosphere Data Architect, CA Erwin; familiarity with Collibra or Informatica is a plus)
  • Experience gathering, documenting and validating data requirements in large organisations
  • Experience working in large, complex, geographically distributed projects (including cross-time-zone collaboration)
  • Experience as a data analyst, solutions analyst or data architect—especially in producing data artefacts such as data models, data flow diagrams or metadata
