The opportunity:

The Data & BI Teams core purpose is to empower data-driven decision making across the business. Today they are made up of 6 people based in Poznan in Poland and split between 3 key areas of BI analysis, BI development, and data engineering.

In essence, the BI analysts talk to stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into potential BI solutions, the BI developers create the visualizations from the data sets within the data warehouse, and the data engineers manage the data warehouse and extend it to meet the ongoing needs of the business.

This role is for the Data & BI Lead, which is a key leadership role focused on empowering our Data & BI Team to deliver BI solutions for internal consumption. In the role, you’ll be a driving force in shaping our BI Strategy, managing the team day-to-day, and mentoring our team to achieve ambitious goals. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people management skills, with a focus on leveraging advanced technologies like AI to enhance reporting and insights.

What youll get to do:

Lead Your Team:

  • Guide and mentor your team of BI developers, analysts, and data engineers, providing regular feedback and support to help them grow.
  • Run team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and training opportunities to foster collaboration and skill development.
  • Work with each team member on their individual development plans and career progression.

Manage the Day-to-Day:

  • Prioritize incoming requests for reports, analyses, and data insights, balancing business-as-usual tasks with project deliverables.
  • Assign tasks to team members based on their skills and current workload, ensuring everyone is operating efficiently.
  • Monitor progress on key projects and initiatives, identifying and resolving any roadblocks.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to translate client needs into technical specifications for your team.
  • Work with data engineers to ensure the data your team needs is accurate, consistent, and readily available.
  • Keep a close eye on project timelines and make adjustments as needed.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve our BI processes and implement best practices.
  • Analyze the performance of our BI solutions and identify areas for optimization.
  • Troubleshoot any data-related issues that arise.

Think Strategically:

  • Contribute to the overall BI and data strategy, exploring how we can use cutting-edge tools and techniques, including AI, to improve our offerings.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to drive innovation and growth for our clients in the commerce space.
  • Work with senior leadership to set priorities for BI initiatives and ensure they align with business objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in BI and analytics, especially in areas like AI, data science, data governance, and data quality.
  • Share your knowledge and insights with stakeholders across the business, explaining complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable way.
  • Champion a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

What you should have:

  • Proven experience leading and managing BI teams, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Strong understanding of BI technologies, tools, and methodologies, including SQL, data warehousing, ETL processes, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and data analysis techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
  • Experience with financial and operational reporting within a corporate environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Fluency in English (at least C1 level) to communicate effectively across teams and stakeholders.

You will collaborate with our UK stakeholders, so there may occasionally be a need to work until 18:00 PL time.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with or knowledge of AI applications in BI is a plus.
  • A strong understanding of business processes and KPIs, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
  • Background in the Technical Consulting industry.
  • Experience in working with financial data.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Please note that this job is a full-time position located in Poland, but the selection process will be conducted in English.
