You will be a tech leader part of the D&T (Digital and Technology) department of HEINEKEN International and is located in Heineken Global Shared Service in Cracow. D&T is proud to bring cutting-edge innovation, strong technology and advanced analytics to HEINEKEN globally. As the D&T Manager for Smart Brewery, you will spearhead the Connected Brewery ecosystem by leading, shaping, and collaborating with product teams to design, build, and operate innovative digital platforms within an agile framework. You will empower and guide teams of engineers, setting a clear technical vision for sustainable and scalable software solutions. By establishing and enforcing engineering best practices, you will drive engineering excellence, ensuring the Smart Brewery’s digital capabilities deliver robust, future‑ready solutions that support HEINEKEN’s strategic ambitions and global supply chain transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Defining and driving CB multi‑cloud strategy and transformation roadmap in partnership with Product Owners and senior leadership
    • Establishing organizational standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for CB cloud adoption in Supply Chain Globally
    • Leading strategic planning and resource allocation across multiple teams and initiatives to maximize business value
    • Advising and influencing senior leadership on technology investments, architecture priorities, and long‑term digital strategy
    • Building and maintaining relationships with Sr. stakeholders on strategic and tactical level, internal and external
  • Team Development
    • Building, coaching and developing diverse teams of engineering managers, architects and engineers
    • Driving career growth through mentorship, feedback, and creation of development opportunities
    • Attracting and retaining top talent while developing succession plans for key roles
    • Partnering with portfolio and product owners to design robust staffing plans, ensuring the right skill mix and capacity to deliver on Smart Brewery objectives
  • Technical Oversight
    • Overseeing architectural decisions and setting the technical direction for all Smart Brewery Products, ensuring alignment with HEINEKEN’s digital ambitions
    • Guiding teams in designing, implementing and running scalable, cost‑effective cloud solutions
    • Driving standardization, automation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and engineering practices across the portfolio
  • Operational Excellence
    • Owner for development processes that enhance the quality, delivery, and overall effectiveness of the Connected Brewery Portfolio globally
    • Establishing metrics and KPIs to measure team health, technical quality, development speed and business impact
    • Driving continuous improvement in engineering practices and delivery processes
    • Balancing tactical execution with strategic long‑term initiatives
  • Financial & Vendor Management
    • Managing significant budgets, resource allocation, and financial risks across multiple teams and initiatives
    • Leading vendor management activities like statement of work (SOW), turnaround times, quality of work, negotiating contracts, managing relationships, assigning jobs, evaluating performance, etc.
  • Others
    • Monitoring emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving architecture best practices to assess their relevance and applicability to Smart Brewery goals
    • Keeping up with relevant developments in own functional area (Production) and ensure development, transfer and retention of knowledge
    • Liaising with product teams, management, Global functions, Regions and opcos to ensure projects are completed to standard
    • Responsibility for ensuring the overall HEINEKEN Tech standards and best practices are adhered by Connected Brewery Products
    • Building and nurturing strong relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external, at strategic and tactical levels

Qualifications

  • IT leader experience, with demonstrated leadership and influence across organization
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in a technology related subject
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and 6+ years previous manager level leadership experience, in Manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience in managing and leading teams (directly and indirectly)
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and in writing): ability to communicate well with technical and non‑technical people
  • Deep knowledge and experience in driving development processes that enhance the quality, delivery, and overall effectiveness of multiple products
  • Ability to collaborate with multi‑functional teams
  • Strong ability to prioritize, push aggressive deadlines and drive closures
  • Strong experience in building highly scalable, high volume, fault‑tolerant distributed systems
  • Broad experience in REST APIs and micro‑service architectures
  • Proven expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP with a focus on multi‑cloud architecture. CSP certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect) preferred
  • Strong background in cloud‑native design, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability (i.e. New Relic, Data Dog, Grafana)
  • Understanding of cloud security, compliance frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO), and cost governance
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Java)
  • Experience with cloud networking and hybrid connectivity
  • Experience managing Technical vendors
