The Position

Custom Software Engineer Expert

R&D Excellence as a strategic Program in Informatics. It is a collective, end-to-end approach across Pharma to rethink how we discover, develop and deliver our portfolio so we can bring more transformative medicines to patients. Our goals to achieve that:

  • Evolve R&D engine by driving research excellence, developing end-to-end asset strategies and building a world-class evidence generation engine

The six solutions are being driven by seven workstreams made up of cross-Pharma teams. The implementation phase - which we’ve already started - will require an overall cultural shift to accelerate the effectiveness & efficiency of our R&D engine.

The opportunity:

  • Guiding the technical direction and evolving the architecture of the Integrated Informatics PDIE/S&R domain.
  • Establishing guardrails and standardized building blocks to empower team autonomy while maintaining a harmonious blend of digital discipline and freedom.
  • Leading Architectural discussions
  • Collaborating with product managers and architects to design, explain, and document the domains architecture solution.
  • Assessing initiative/epic proposals for investment approval within the technical architecture context.
  • Identifying synergies among pRED, gRED, Diagnostics R&D and Integrated Informatics foundation solutions.
  • Cultivating relationships with external stakeholders, including key architects in gRED, pRED, and other Roche Integrated Informatics domains.
  • Promoting a culture of safety and accountability that encourages experimentation, growth, and open discussions among individual engineers and teams.
  • Strongly supporting capability growth and co-creating strategic technology direction in the organization.

Who you are:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in software development and informatics solution lifecycle.
  • You have 7+ years of proven experience in Cloud Engineering and DevOps, with a focus on application productization, deployment, and management in the AWS cloud environment.
  • You have a proven experience in creating architecture for data platform.
  • You have advanced knowledge in order to assess key technologies and tools that support platform development.
  • You have advanced knowledge of cloud services and DevOps tools; experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions; container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • You show a deep understanding of AWS cloud services for storage and compute, including Data Processing, ML/AI platforms e.g. AWS SageMaker, Databricks, KubeFlow, AirFlow, Data Management and Data Governance.
  • You have strong analytical skills and strategic thinking with the ability to tackle complex engineering challenges, lead architectural decisions to make an organizational impact, integrate new technologies, and improve existing processes.
  • You have experience in leading and mentoring a team of developers.
  • You are ready to step in to influence the directions in which the organization will grow and contribute to strategic internal activities.

  • Salary range 29000 -31000PLN gross based on the employment contract (Umowa o pracę).
