Why this role exists
We are looking for a CTO who will be a true co-driver of the company’s success. This is a high-trust leadership role for a technical visionary who understands the market, can scale a startup, and connects business outcomes with technology choices. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and hands-on execution, ensuring our team stays focused on the goals that move the needle.
What you will do
Technical Strategy: Own the technical roadmap and architecture across the entire product (UE5 plugin + Python backend/AI services + Web stack for user facing interfaces).
Strategic Leadership: Co-lead the company with the CEO, translating business vision into executable milestones and measurable outcomes.
Engineering Excellence: Set and enforce high engineering standards (quality, reviews, testing, release discipline) to ensure speed without sacrificing reliability.
Team Scaling: Lead, mentor, and grow our engineering team; own the hiring and onboarding processes for future talent.
Global Engagement: Represent Ludus AI in front of investors, enterprise clients, and global partners (gamedev and beyond).
Risk Management: Mitigate technical debt and manage security, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Culture Architect: Foster a healthy, ambitious, and transparent engineering culture.
Hand-on development: When required, you are not afraid to get hands-on with a variety of different challenges in multiple coding languages.
Requirements
Expertise: 7+ years of experience in technical leadership, with mandatory expertise in Unreal Engine and a solid background in AI and Python environments.
Leadership Track Record: Proven experience leading engineering teams and shipping complex production software.
Architectural Vision: Strong system design skills across both product logic and scalable infrastructure.
Hands-on Mindset: Willingness to "get into the trenches" when needed, especially in our lean, high-speed environment.
Startup DNA: Experience in scaling teams and processes from early stage to growth.
Business Orientation: Ability to make difficult trade-offs to ensure product-market fit and business wins.
Communication: Exceptional English (C1/C2) is a must – you will work daily with global investors and industry giants. Język Polski jest wymagany.
Nice to have
Deep roots in the Unreal Engine ecosystem or game developer tools market.
Experience with AI-enabled SaaS products.
Experience scaling infrastructure for high-traffic global platforms.
