A Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the regulatory aspects of all international shipments. This role ensures that physical deliveries occur on schedule and in full compliance with applicable regulations. The specialist applies relevant trade compliance rules, regulations, and policies to manage import/export operations globally. Responsibilities also include managing the logistics and transportation of vendor deliveries and coordinating with international governmental organizations to facilitate smooth equipment imports. Additionally, contractors in this role collaborate with internal stakeholders to define and refine processes, consistently leveraging data to drive system improvements.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics industry, trade compliance rules, regulations, inventory or warehouse management.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum C1 level, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, stock management and forecasting.
- Comfortable with a rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to operate and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the business.
- Knowledge of trade compliance rules, regulations.
- Work closely with cross-functional team members including Legal and Tax to ensure imports/exports take place in a compliant manner.
- Review and ensure that all commercial documents in connection with the STOs are in place and compliant with shipping practices.
- Carry out emerging markets research to determine shipping and compliance regulations in new locations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client and extended logistics team, providing expert advice on customs clearance, brokerage, classification, valuation, and regulatory requirements.
- Create client-facing reports (Monthly Business Reviews/Quarterly Business Reviews - MBR/QBR) - summarizing regional compliance performance metrics.
- Create and tracks action items and deliverables arising from performance reviews or client requests.
- Provide timely updates and clarifications on shipments as needed.
