Competency Leader for the EMEIA Insurance
Location: Wrocław - 2 days in office / 3 days remote

The opportunity
You will serve as the Competency Leader for the EMEIA Insurance business area. This role encompasses practice management, client relationship development, strategic planning, and team leadership. You will help deliver KPIs, execute go-to-market strategies, and develop innovative insurance solutions for clients in the Insurance sector. Situated at the heart of EY GDS Poland, you will be a cornerstone of a function that impacts the organization, clients and people, helping sculpt your career trajectory.
Your key responsibilities
- Mentor and lead a diverse team of insurance professionals, fostering an inclusive work environment and encouraging professional development
- Oversee the management of the insurance practice, ensuring the achievement of KPIs and continuous improvement of processes and services
- Engage in go-to-market activities to demonstrate the value and capabilities of our services to potential clients
- Cultivate and grow strong client relationships, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions that drive client satisfaction and business growth
- Plan and execute go-to-market strategies that align with business objectives and market trends, positioning the firm as a leader in the insurance sector
- Develop and deliver innovative insurance solutions that address the unique challenges and opportunities within the Insurance sector
- Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and motivating work environment
- Ensure team members are engaged, supported, and aligned with the practices goals and values
- Act as a thought leader in the insurance community, staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies
- Travel to customer locations as needed to support business development and client engagement activities
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience in IT architecture and infrastructure design, sourcing approaches, IT process and cost optimization, and emerging technologies
- Strong experience in go-to-market strategies, including ability to develop client proposals, project approaches, work plans, resource estimates, and cost estimates on client opportunities and pursuits
- Proficiency in Insurance Sector tools (incl. core insurance platforms), IT tools, and Agile methodologies
- Proven track record in building and managing a Center of Excellence (CoE) within a consulting or similar environment
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and manage teams of diverse skills and backgrounds
- Proven experience in managing teams of technology systems and project management within a consulting or similar environment
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop effective strategies, identify opportunities for increased ROI, and implement effective business development strategies
- Experience developing offerings, solutions, and designs for product implementations
- Good planning and organizing skills, with the ability to see the big picture as well as focus on details and ensure errorless delivery
- Exceptional core consulting skills
- Ability to work in a continuously changing environment
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Sectorial experience in insurance, with domain knowledge on different insurance products, platforms (like Guidewire, EIS or others) and services across various lines of business
- Good knowledge of insurance processes like underwriting, claims management, risk assessment, policy administration in P&C and life
- Solid technology background — ideally having started in IT, solution delivery or systems implementation, with the ability to translate technical capabilities into business value
- 10+ years’ experience in People Management
- Capability to manage wide & international teams
- Excellent professional client-facing & communication skills, able to approach senior stakeholders using appropriate level of detail, terminology, and fit-to-purpose communication
- English skills enabling communication in teams distributed across the world (B2+)
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Front-to-back process experience within Insurance: Underwriting, Claims Management, and Process topics such as gap & process analysis, process optimization, business reengineering, STP, outsourcing
- Good experience in design, development, and testing of systems/interfaces between external providers and insurance systems
- Technological delivery background and experience in Insurance/FS sector
