Commissioning Engineer for Communication and Networking in HVDC Systems

In our HVDC Communication Team, we test and verify network infrastructures, communication interfaces, and HMI concepts for our innovative HVDC projects in our test center in Germany (Forchheim). During the commissioning of our HVDC systems worldwide—on site and remotely—we ensure flawless functionality and quality. Our diverse, multinational teams work closely with project management, system, and component engineering to provide custom solutions based on the latest innovations in HVDC technology.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Responsible for technically flawless, on‑time and economical commissioning of HVDC systems worldwide, focusing on data networks and components of network communication (SCADA‑level).
• Commissioning, support and control of the predominantly TCP/IP based network infrastructure, HMI concept, and their purpose‑specific adaptation.
• Time synchronization and local/remote signal converter management, ensuring interface to all other signal suppliers.
• Support other commissioning components, customers and external partners in troubleshooting and testing communication interfaces.
• Support IBS management in quality, risk, and claim management.
• Participation in improvement programs (including Lean, reviews, and lessons learned).

What You Bring

• Completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology or comparable education/qualification.
• Experience in network administration (switches, routers, etc.), basic HMI, and PC administration (hardware and virtualization).
• Basic knowledge of network protocols (including TCP/IP, RADIUS), network security and monitoring.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and precisely.
• Fluent German and English language skills.
• Class B driving licence for Germany.
• Handling of circuit diagrams and electrical systems / measuring instruments.
• Preferably a skilled electrician.
• Willingness for worldwide business trips and long‑term assignments on construction sites in Germany and abroad, including optional assignments on offshore platforms (more than 6 months).
• Team player, communicative, proactive, positive conflict handling, decision‑making capability.
