An Electrical Commissioning Engineer working on 220kV grid projects is responsible for the safe testing, commissioning, and energisation of high-voltage transmission and substation systems in accordance with grid codes, IEC standards, and project specifications. The role involves executing pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning, protection and control testing, and SCADA integration, while coordinating closely with construction teams, OEMs, utilities, and TSOs. The engineer ensures strict compliance with HV safety rules and permit‑to‑work systems, supports or acts as an Authorised Person where certified, resolves technical issues during start‑up, and delivers complete commissioning documentation to achieve successful system handover to the client.
