Responsibilities
- Ensure works are undertaken safely, in compliance with the Contract and Regulatory requirements.
- Observe workmanship, identify quality issues, and observe and undertake tests and inspections.
- Direct responsibility to manage the testing and handover of the Electrical Distribution System.
- Provide Electrical leadership for all electrical testing procedures, incident investigations and technical issue resolution.
- Support the electrical requirements of the Pre-Operational Testing Area Managers through qualified personnel and regular audits of area electrical activities to ensure compliance with site and project procedures.
- Lead the testing and commissioning of the Electrical Distribution System from construction completion through to handover to Owner’s operations, including scope definition, planning and execution.
- Lead multi-disciplinary team for Pre-operational Testing and ensure health, safety and environmental performance during the Pre-op phase.
- Manage interfaces with Area Pre-Operational Testing Managers and oversee placement and quality of electrical resources deployed to each area.
- Develop and implement detailed testing plans for the Electrical Distribution System, including schedule and budget integrated with the project plan.
- Apply Project safety management systems during Pre-Operational Testing and adapt them to project needs and risks.
- Develop and deliver a Commissioning plan for Electrical Distribution System, including scope of systems, safety procedures, responsibility matrix, turnover procedures, and handover documents.
- Coordinate documentation for turnover (O&M manuals, training materials, spares lists) and ensure all documentation is delivered.
- Coordinate with vendors and oversee acceptance of control systems and automation.
- Report progress and performance of commissioning activities against budget and plan.
Qualifications and Experience
- The position requires a professional Electrical Engineer or a person with significant technical experience in similar facilities and strong project completion management knowledge. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
- Site experience in an operating plant.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role on major projects within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Extensive experience with procedures and workflows in project execution.
- Functional knowledge of all project discipline systems, design and reporting processes.
- Good working knowledge of design review and reporting technologies.
- Experience with hazard identification and risk management practices.
- Good understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies in a project environment.
- Good organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Experience in industrial plant start-up environments is advantageous.
- Good command of English; knowledge of Spanish/German is a plus.
