About the Role
A Platform Lead is responsible for defining and evolving the architectural vision and overall design of the platform. The Platform Lead guide platform development by collaborating with Platform Owners and technical leads, aligning with business and IT strategies while staying updated on industry trends. Platform Lead actively participates in the design, build, and deployment of platforms, ensuring services, security, monitoring, and backup strategies are properly implemented. Work with external customers, partners, and cross-functional teams to align with other architects on principles, standards, and target architecture. In addition, they mentor team members on technology and architecture, supporting teams onboarding the platform. Evaluate and introduce new technologies to ensure the platform remains innovative and competitive.
Responsibilities
- Oversee that the platform is designed to deliver on the targeted “consumers” requirement as a shared foundation for various and multiple systems or applications, potentially across multiple business domains. This means ensuring it delivers reusable technical capabilities within the defined bounded context of the platform, where it is more cost-beneficial to frontload once than multiple times in individual Products or Projects. In addition, ensure that the platform leverages other VELUX technical platforms where feasible.
- Ensures the platform is designed to be properly Scalable and Efficient as well as Secure and Reliable in accordance with relevant policies, standards and defined Operational and Service Level Agreements (OLA/SLA)
- Ensures that the platform supports easy onboarding of “consumers” and natively delivers sufficient support for capabilities like Observability, IAM, and FinOps. This is done by driving towards a high degree of automation in the onboarding process, which hence gives onboarded teams the needed level of autonomy to use the platform without manual intervention by the platform team.
- Ensures technology selections and implementations, as well as integration with other systems and platforms, are done in alignment with relevant architects
- Together with the platform owner, they advocates for the use of the platform in accordance with overall architecture principles and ensures the platform stays compelling and relevant for “consumers.”
- Accountable for the Platform Solution documentation according to VELUX documentation standards
Required skills & Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of application architecture and design patterns, standards, and tools. A specific preference for a given tool isnt needed, as focus is on understanding the concepts.
- Relevant technical experience within CMS Platforms - preferably Sitecore
- Communication: Strong communication skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and explaining complex technical details clearly.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and changing business requirements.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Influence: Good grasp of setting a direction for a team and ensuring everyone is working towards the same goal.
