Your responsibilities
- As a Cloud Operations Engineer you will be tasked with delivering automation, code, and consulting for the company’s Public Cloud platforms. You will be also responsible for the continual availability, stability and performance of our large-scale global e-commence platforms, along with numerous other interdependent systems. This role can be classified in three pillars: Site Reliability Engineering, Support and DevOps.
- Identify the root cause of problems before they have a major impact upon business process
- Automation reduce the reliance on manual intervention for tasks via creation of tools and scripting
- Delivery of stable and performant applications and cloud operations practices
- Provide effective monitoring of the e-commerce platform and internal applications
- Be actively involved in developing and optimising processes to create efficiencies in daily BAU activities
- Document, and track issues and the reasonable steps taken
- Cooperation with Global Technical Services teams, Engineering, Architecture Project and Infrastructure teams
- Manage business stakeholder expectations, collaborate with Technology team members within your team and across other teams to deliver outstanding results for our business stakeholders
- Cross train peers, provide guides and technical documentation for other support teams
- Actively participate within the practice of Cloud Operations and contribute to the continual improvement of the practice
- Perform daily application releases to both online and internal systems with clear communication to stakeholders on status of changes
Employer requirements
- At least 3 years’ experience in an Online Systems / Web Application / Operations Support / Software Development role
- Ability to use a variety of open-source technologies and Public Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
- MSSQL and T-SQL query language experience
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Powershell, Python or equivalent
- Experience with Observability tools, Synthetics, APM monitoring, alerting and dashboarding
- Strong grasp of Automation toolset
- Driven individual, positive attitude and ability to self-learn
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
