Job Summary

As a Cloud FinOps Analyst, you will operate at the intersection of finance, technology, and operations to drive transparency, efficiency, and accountability in cloud consumption and cost. You will analyze cloud usage data, develop cost optimization strategies, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement and track savings initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzes cloud usage data to identify patterns, anomalies, and areas of inefficiency or overprovisioning.
• Develops and recommends cost optimization strategies across services, pricing models (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans), and architectural decisions.
• Monitors and reports on cloud spend, budget variances, and utilization metrics on a regular cadence.
• Partners with Engineering, Infrastructure, and Finance to implement and track cost-saving initiatives.
• Drives accountability through showback/chargeback models and financial transparency.
• Supports budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with Finance and business leaders.
• Tracks actual vs.committed spend, license and usage audits and surface opportunities for renegotiation or cost optimization.
• Collaborates with procurement and legal teams to drive cost-effective vendor management.
• Works to continuously improve cost management processes, financial reporting cadence, and internal controls.
• Automates repeatable reporting tasks and creates dashboards that drive insight and action.
  
  

Experience, Skills And Key Competencies

Has at least 3 years of experience with cost optimization frameworks such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework and use of Financial Operations (FinOps) tools e.g. CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, along with working knowledge of cloud cost models, SaaS metrics, and prior experience working in a SaaS product organization.

Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

• Skilled at using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
• Adept at stakeholder management.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication skills and can translate data trends into easy-to-understand summaries and actionable insights.
• Can effectively organize and manage day-to-day work and priorities, and use time, energy and resources to meet goals, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Able to effectively work and thrive in a remote/hybrid work environment that has limited opportunities for in-person interactions.
