Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
SUMMARY:
Provide global engineering leadership in the development of new processes and/or equipment to manufacture new or improved processes or products and to facilitate localization into the appropriate operations, and in the communication, implementation, coordination, and enforcement of the manufacturing strategies used to drive growth.
This position requires travel on an international basis and could be for extended periods of time in support of specific projects or equipment. The incumbent must be able to lead international teams or projects, and be an active and contributing member of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead cross functional development/implementation team comprised of Product Engineering, Supply chain, and local Operations personnel focused on developing new products.
- Lead the development of new standardized manufacturing processes and/or equipment for new products.
- Responsible for establishing and quantifying initial cost assumptions for newly developed processes in advance of program applications.
- Responsible for documenting and providing training materials for standardized implementation of the new processes.
- Must work closely with the product engineering team and have a high level of experience in applying GD&T, DOE, capability studies, design for manufacturability, measurement systems analysis, reliability analysis, and knowledge of test methods and validation techniques.
- Apply project management techniques to schedule engineers, technicians, operating personnel from multiple countries, and equipment suppliers to accomplish project objectives and timing.
- Develop and maintain budgets, obtain quotations, develop cost estimates and costing information related to management of a global project.
- Work with international and local equipment and tooling manufactures to design and build equipment that meets or exceeds manufacturing requirements, design standards and specifications.
- Work closely with the global team and serve in a supporting or consulting role for activities such as capacity and capital planning, AR preparation, equipment relocation, equipment rebuild or obsolescence, new facility localization or expansion, machine installations, machine breakdowns or quality/delivery issues.
- Prepare and communicate periodic and special reports concerning progress of process development, capability or localization timing activities.
- This position may be responsible for establishing safety procedures in support of new machine or processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
- Over 7 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Ability to provide training & mentoring to other employees.
- Knowledge of Project Management and Data Analysis software (MiniTab) are a plus.
- Must understand the importance of intellectual property, including how to apply for patents and trade secrets to protect innovations.
- Must be familiar with all safety standards such as machine guarding, noise limits, control of hazardous energies and the basics of ergonomic design.
- Ability to travel internationally.
