The Opportunity:

B2B Payables & Acceptance is part of Visa Business Solutions vertical of Visa’s Technology organization. We are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Virtual Cards, payables & acceptance commercial platforms to drive incremental revenue. We develop new offerings/products and enhance existing Visa Business Solutions product lines including Commercial data processing, B2B Payables & B2B Acceptance platforms. We are looking for Chief Software Engineer to join our B2B Payables team based in Warsaw, Poland.

The Chief Software Engineer will provide technical leadership/oversight in building the next generation virtual payables platform for various account types (cards, Pseudo accounts, wallets) as well as providing value added services to our clients. 


Essential Functions:

  • Technology Leadership: Mentor, coach, lead and motivate a high performing team of senior engineers, lead engineers, testers, managers to set clear priorities to achieve product/technology goals and KPIs. Establish COE for Virtual Payables Hub strategy locally for B2B VBS team.
  • Strategic Project ownership: Lead the Virtual Platform Long Term Architecture solution using cross vertical teams from OVN, Network processing, O&I and Data Platform. Ensure strong strategic alignment across the cross verticals. Develop strategies to meet business objectives with existing or emerging technologies and articulate technology solutions as well as explain the competitive advantages of various technology alternatives keeping in mind the platforms’ needs of security, high scalability (throughput of over 150 tps) and four nines of availability.
  • Drive Technology Standards: Drive the definition, rollout, and adoption of Virtual Payables adoption complying with Visa standards.
  • Be the VBS/B2B Evangelist: Be the technology evangelist of expansive virtual payables platforms across Visa and drive adoption metric. Build relationships with key architects across technology organizations and collaborate on promoting architectural best practices across technology.
  • Drive the coordination, organization and execution of qualitative and quantitative decisions and advise senior management on insights and recommended actions.
  • Strong and well-honed ability to influence, motivate and collaborate with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.
  • Work cross functionally to proactively ensure Visa technologies are capable of handling emerging or future business requirements.
  • Executes the vision of Virtual Payables B2B payment flows, ensuring delivery of differentiating products/services for Visa and Issuers/ Partners.
  • Expand the growth of Virtual Cards business into Mobile wallet, Data Hub, and new regions.
  •  Extensive cross-organizational collaboration playing a crucial role in interfacing with various technology teams and business stakeholders to identify requirements, converting them to functional specs, prioritizing and driving execution using agile methodologies.
  • Lead feedback/influence high end technical designs into core product strategy, roadmap and go to market.
  • Drive internal proof of concept initiatives. When needed, quickly design and implement a prototype of a system or component with a proper architecture, and then hand over or lead a small group of developers to finish.
  • Establish best practices in client application development using engineering excellence, for incidents/change/problem management in a global 24X7 high volume, critical Tier 1 production environment for 190K+ Suppliers/Buyers/Issuers with Visa.
  • True adherence to Visa Leadership Principles (VLPs) with excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.


Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD) or PhD with 9+ years of experience

• Mentor, coach, manage and motivate a high performing team of senior engineers, to achieve goals and KPIs.

• Proven knowledge of successful design, architecture and development using Big Data Hadoop, J2EE and Spark with large data volumes and transaction systems

• Possesses a deep understanding of benefits/drawbacks of different integration patterns

• Continuous delivery and Dev Ops experience - infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, auditing and security implementation and practices

• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g. HBASE and Cassandra) technologies is a plus

• Experience in Java language, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and HTML5/ CSS3

• Experience in code development using Eclipse/MyEclipse, JetBrains IntelliJ or any major Java ID

• Experience in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON and XML

• Experience with GIT/Stash, Maven and Jenkins

• Experience in SQL and/or PL/SQL

• Experience in MySQL, Oracle or IBM DB2 on AIX, Unix or Linux platforms

• Experience in Tomcat is preferred

• Experience with SOAPUI or Postman preferred

• Ability to solve complex software development/design issues

• Ability to write clean, coherent code following established coding guidelines

• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way

• Experience developing as part of Agile/Scrum team is preferred

• Passionate about delivering zero defect code that meet or exceed the proposed defect SLA and have high sense of accountability for quality and timeliness of deliverables

• Ability to deliver on multiple projects and manage priorities based on changing directions

• Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented

• Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

• Past experience in Payments or B2B products is nice to have
