About the job

Company Description

Do you want to be at the heart of the green energy transition, enabling offshore wind developments to meet global and national net zero targets? Are you looking to bring your expertise and enthusiasm into play in designing large-scale foundation structures for projects around the world? Do you want to push the boundaries of your profession and develop your excellence in an open, collaborative and empowering culture?

If this resonates with your ambitions, or you are curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our global Wind team and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

As our new CAD engineer, you will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering department. You will join a team of highly talented and engaged engineers delivering the full suite of services required to develop an offshore windfarm including the design for offshore wind turbine support structures and foundations. You will take on responsibility for supporting the design deliveries applying an analytical approach and structural understanding to create innovative solutions. This role requires a proven track record of working with a team to prepare 3D models of steel structures and associated drawings required to enable fabrication and construction of the structures.

If you crave a challenging role but also flexibility and work life balance, this role may be ideal for you. The position will be based in one of our offices, but our hybrid work model allows you to split your time between working in the office and working from home.

Your key responsibilities

  1. Prepare project-specific detailed and complex 3D models and 2D drawings, representing large steel structures such as monopile or jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines.
  2. Prepare manufacturing plans and section overviews for individual components such as profiles and weld details, as well as complete structural assemblies, in close collaboration with the design engineers.
  3. Ensure models and drawings are prepared in accordance with the required standards and procedures to ensure high quality final drawings.
  4. Support the project teams in bid invitations by implementing conceptual designs and generating various project-specific design drawings, such as sketches, 2D/3D drawings, collision design in 3D and similar.
  5. Further develop and maintain internal CAD standards and manuals, as well as develop optimised ways of building 3D models and exporting 2D drawings.
  6. Closely collaborate with other Ramboll units worldwide, ensuring streamlined and optimised working and quality-assurance procedures.
  7. Take part in internal development activities to continuously improve and optimise our design.

Your new team

You will be part of our global Offshore Wind Engineering team working on wind farm developments worldwide. Based in one of our flagship Gdynia office, you will join an established and vibrant team of highly talented and engaged engineers at the forefront of innovative and complex steel design techniques for Monopile and Jacket structures. You will collaborate with local and international colleagues and play a critical role in defining and delivering projects, creating innovative solutions, and shaping and enhancing our service delivery.

From the moment you start at Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you can continue to grow with the company. Whilst we look forward to supporting your continued learning and development, for this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

  2. 2D and 3D design knowledge as a technical draftsman in the construction industry in the area of steel, metal or plant construction, preferably knowledge in the design area of supporting structures.
  3. Highly proficient in 3D CAD design, e.g., with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor or comparable software packages. SolidWorks experience would be advantageous.
  4. Keen interest or prior experience in architectural / structural steel design and / or fabrication or other complex structures / components.
  5. Fluent in both written and spoken English, especially technical vocabulary for drawing preparation.
  6. High integrity and team spirit, proactively engaging with others and offering support when required.
