Alexa is the voice-controlled personal assistant behind Amazon Echo, loved by millions of customers around the world. We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the team who seeks to provide seamless experiences for customers with Alexa.

A day in the life

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will be focused on the design, implementation, and delivery of software in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You will be working with an assorted set of stakeholders across the organization such as product, program management, and UX teams and will influence the technology decisions that will drive future products and features that directly affect our growth in this critical space.

Alexa Hybrid Engine vision is to make Alexa faster, more reliable, provide better privacy, and enable unique experiences, only possible with local processing. Our technology stack extends from audio input through utterance and intent processing, skill invocation and response processing, text-to-speech, model building and delivery, and engine workflow configurations. We collaborate to reuse technology where available, build where we see a gap, and provide engineering and scientific innovation where opportunity exists. We measure our success based on adoption and usage of the platform, tools, and experiences we enable.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
2. Extensive years of professional experience with Software Development or relevant industry experience.
3. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, like Java, C/C++ or C#.
4. Sharp analytical abilities and strong system design skills.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing team members and project stakeholders.
6. Strong fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, complexity analysis and data structures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Masters or higher degree in computer science or related field such as mathematics, engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
2. Experience with Machine Learning.
3. Embedded software development.
4. Experience in mentoring/coaching others.
