Business Analyst / Data Steward, Officer

SSBI Data Governance & Management team supports the Finance function to ensure compliance with BCBS 239 requirements. This role is responsible for implementing data governance practices, data quality controls, and reporting frameworks to ensure that the Finance organization’s data management practices comply with BCBS 239 standards. The role is part of the SSBI RDAR framework, adapting the Data Steward role from the global Data Governance policy, and applies standards, frameworks and controls to maintain compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop Data Quality Framework for Risk, Finance and Treasury.
  • Maintain a data dictionary aligned to the enterprise glossary to ensure data context and meaning is clear to Data Consumers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage Data Provider/Consumer relationships and confirm that data is fit for purpose.
  • Engage Business Owners to verify that operational controls (business and IT) are implemented and fully documented to mitigate data quality risks.
  • Capture technical metadata and associate physical data structures to business data element definitions within the Data Catalog.
  • Ensure that application data lineage (inputs, outputs) is accurate and updated in the Data Catalog.
  • Participate in data integration projects to ensure appropriate data is used, data quality controls are implemented, and the Data Catalog is updated.
  • Drive resolution of data quality issues and exceptions by collaborating with business process owners, technology experts or other key stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of comprehensive, end‑to‑end Data Quality testing.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase the team’s productivity through appropriate analysis and re‑engineering of business processes.
  • Status reporting on assigned tasks.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, principles and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence staff and customers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to motivate and influence staff and customers.
  • Hands‑on experience and full understanding (SME level) of data sets relevant for the business unit.
  • Ability to understand data models, data taxonomy, and a deep appreciation of data standards and data quality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot), Word and Visio.
  • Experience with SQL and BI tools (Power BI) is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Self‑confidence, high energy and tenacity in bringing issues to closure and moving forward.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Information Technology, Finance).
  • 5+ years of experience in the financial industry, preferably in capital markets or financial markets infrastructure, with roles in data governance, risk management or compliance.
  • Ability to take ownership and initiative, be accountable and proactive, and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in English is a must.
