The Global Division Transportation & Places is active within transportation infrastructure, real estate, water and environment in the Nordics and Central Europe. The division has about 6,500 employees and is structured around two segments: Road & Rail and Public & Commercial Places.

As a member of the team Structural design at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects that will make a real impact. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Finland, use cutting‑edge technology, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients. It is important that you are a team player that likes to work in teams with different competences and cultures/nationalities and that you are curious and eager to learn new things.

In Finland we currently have 40 Structural engineers working with civil structures, mostly concrete. We work with a wide scope of assignments ranging from feasibility studies to detailed design. In general we work in 2‑5 person teams assigned to different projects; our engineers have a typical workload of 2‑4 ongoing projects.

Based on your qualifications and experience we have opening for the following positions: Assistant Structural Designer, Junior Structural Designer, Structural Designer and Senior Structural Designer.

Your key responsibilities are:

• FEM analysis
• Structural calculations

Must have:

• A Qualified Degree in Bridge Engineering
• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in structural design with a focus on civil structures and bridges
• Experience in designing bridges, pile slabs, retaining walls, concrete tunnels along with preparing quantity and cost estimates. Both in the pre‑design and construction design phases (feasibility study → detailed engineering)
• Deep understanding of how loads and structures work and behave
• Experience in applying Eurocodes in bridge design
• Good skills in Tekla Structures
• A good knowledge of working in all applications of MS Office

Good to have:

• Understanding of FEM, preferably Sofistik
• Working knowledge of Rhinoceros + Grasshopper
• Experience of working abroad, especially projects in the Nordics
• Ability to work collaboratively
