About the project

Were looking for an experienced Big Data Test Engineer / Lead to join an international data migration project for one of our key enterprise clients.

If you have a strong background in data platforms, enjoy working with large datasets, and want to take ownership of testing strategy and validation in complex migration environments, this role is for you.

Your responsibilities

  • Define and lead the end-to-end testing strategy for Big Data and SAS SPDE data migration
  • Design test plans covering data conversion, pipeline validation, and code compatibility
  • Coordinate with engineering and architecture teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Manage the defect lifecycle and drive timely resolution
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders — tenants, ITSOs, network teams, vendors and SMEs
  • Support user training and onboarding for new data environments

Our requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in testing data platforms or Big Data environments
  • Strong technical understanding of:
  • Operating Systems: Linux, shell scripting
  • Storage Systems: Hadoop/HDFS, S3/VAST, Teradata, PostgreSQL
  • File Formats: Avro, ORC, Parquet (SPDE a plus)
  • Table Formats: Delta, Iceberg
  • Engines: Hive, Spark (Starburst / Databricks a plus)
  • Languages: SAS, Python
  • Automation: building and validating large-scale data pipelines
  • Other: DML operations, dataset partitioning, Altair SLC
  • Proven experience managing complex testing environments with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluency in English (C1)

Optional

  • Experience with Altair tools and vendor coordination
  • Familiarity with SAS technologies (Macros, DI Studio, stored processes)
