Overview

Our Client is one of the largest UK groceries and general merchandise retailers undergoing a transformation to a technology company in retail. As part of this journey, the renovation of the technology landscape is taking place across the company. We support the client in this journey and help to develop from scratch new applications for various departments (Supply Chain, Product Lifecycle Management, Finance, HR, etc.). Our teams are responsible for developing platform components in an Agile environment together with the client, based on an event-based microservices architecture. As a developer, you will work in a team of professionals in your country and collaborate with experts from around the world to develop modern, high-loaded applications in a cloud environment.

Candidate profile: a passionate, smart individual with a strong engineering background who is ready to work in a self-managed team, accept challenges, and take an active role in resolutions. The role involves not only solving engineering tasks but taking responsibility for technology and business goals in collaboration with the Product Owner and business stakeholders. Your efforts will help the client meet its goal to satisfy the most demanding client and to become a leading technology company in retail. The position offers opportunities to grow technical skills, extend your network, and share knowledge with experts globally.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate early with engineering teams, participating in refinement sessions to influence requirements and define test strategies.
  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test suites for functional and regression testing.
  • Automate tests using modern frameworks such as Playwright for both UI and API testing.
  • Conduct performance and load testing using tools like Gatling or k6, and interpret results to ensure system scalability.
  • Set up and maintain test environments and contribute to CI/CD integration for automated test execution.
  • Prepare and present clear test reports, documenting test coverage, results, and any identified defects.

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance methodologies, with a holistic approach to testing across the development lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as Gatling or k6
  • Proficiency in test infrastructure setup, including working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with the latest versions of Java
  • Technical team management experience
