SwingDev—a hippo company is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company – Hippo Insurance. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a group of talented, passionate software engineers. You’ll exert technical leadership by investing in their individual growth, managing team operations, and participating in their day-to-day work. You’ll partner closely with multiple Product Managers to craft and maintain a strong vision for our software products, evaluating business impact and technical tradeoffs to support a top strategic business space – Hippo Home Insurance Program (HHIP). Lead, mentor and grow a team of seven engineers (mid and senior), fostering their growth for higher impact and effective teamwork. ~ Manage one of Hippos top strategic engineering spaces – Insurance Products charter – end‑to‑end, from technical direction to delivery. ~ Collaborate with talented Product Managers to manage the team’s project roadmap, clarifying requirements, and ensuring a balance of technical excellence, agility, and user benefit. ~ Show strong technical leadership with a data‑driven mindset, focusing on excellent execution and high‑quality software, and ensuring the team delivers real business value – not just features. ~ Have experience in designing scalable, maintainable systems with a solid architectural understanding. ~ Have a strong automation mindset and love getting rid of repetitive, manual work. ~ Maintain a relentless focus on end-users, creating customer-centric solutions. ~ Have a high level of technical proficiency with some of Hippo’s tech stack, including JavaScript/Node.Js, TypeScript, React, and Python. ~ Have a great command of English and Polish (both written & spoken). ~ Are available in the afternoons – we prioritize everyone’s personal time and work-life fit, but since we work in multinational teams, occasional evening meetings may be necessary to ensure smooth communication across time zones.
