Offer Description

The competition is related to the implementation of research tasks in the following areas: The competition is related to scientific research and teaching activities in the area of modern energy technologies, with particular emphasis on high-temperature solar energy, radiative and thermochemical processes, and energy conversion and storage:

  • Fundamental and applied research in the field of Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) energy, including the design and analysis of high-temperature receivers and reactors for the production of energy, fuels, and process heat.
  • Modelling and analysis of heat transfer, radiation, and fluid flow in high-temperature single- and multiphase systems, particularly with the use of advanced numerical methods applied to the design and optimisation of solar installations.
  • Thermochemical energy conversion and storage (solar fuels, redox cycles, CO₂ processing and utilisation, high-density energy storage), including the design, implementation, and operation of experimental and demonstration research systems.

Skills/Qualifications

Mandatory requirements:

  • At least a doctoral degree, or possessing equivalent international qualifications, in the field of engineering and technical sciences, within a discipline aligned with Environmental Engineering, Mining and Energy / Energy.
  • A documented, outstanding scientific record in the areas of concentrated solar energy, radiative processes, high-temperature thermochemical processes, and energy conversion and storage, confirmed by publications in top-tier journals (JCR / Scopus lists) and a high number of citations.
  • Experience in leading research teams and participation in international research projects funded from external sources (e.g., EU programmes, national funding agencies, international programmes), with leadership roles preferred.
  • Experience in teaching at the master’s and doctoral levels in English, in the field of modern energy technologies (in particular solar energy, energy storage, solar fuels, thermochemical processes), as well as experience in supervising or mentoring doctoral candidates.
  • Very good command of English, both spoken and written, enabling effective delivery of lectures and seminars and facilitating international collaboration; willingness to learn or use the Polish language in everyday academic work.

Specific Requirements

  • Experience in organising or co-organising international conferences, summer schools, or seminars in the fields of energy, high-temperature solar energy, or thermochemical processes, as well as active participation in international bodies (conference committees, editorial boards of journals or publication series).
  • Experience in collaboration with the energy industry and in implementing research results in practice (e.g., technological demonstrators, pilot CST installations, energy storage systems, solar fuels), supported by relevant projects, patents, or other forms of technology transfer.

3. Experience in preparing grant proposals (Horizon Europe, ERC, MSCA, and other European or national programmes) and in securing funding for research and research infrastructure; readiness to actively contribute to the development of the Faculty’s/University’s international research and educational projects.
