Offer Description

The position of university professor in the research and teaching group involves conducting scientific research, publishing results in recognized, prestigious journals, and obtaining research grants. In addition, university professors play an important role in educating students and doctoral candidates by conducting lectures, seminars, and exercises. As part of their teaching activities, they are required to complete 210 hours of teaching per year (it is possible to reduce this number). In addition to teaching and research, university professors are involved in the organization of scientific and academic work, which includes reviewing theses, doctoral dissertations, and postdoctoral dissertations, participating in committees and scientific councils, and co‑creating study programs. University professors are required to participate in administrative processes, such as periodic employee evaluations, supervision of research projects, and managerial functions. In addition, they may serve as doctoral supervisors if they hold a post‑doctoral degree or, in special cases, have significant scientific achievements.

Skills/Qualifications

The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Conduct classes for the Faculty and the University;
  • Conduct original scientific research in line with the research profile of the Department of Administrative Law and Public Policy Studies;
  • Contributing to the implementation of strategic tasks defined in the Warsaw University of Technology Development Strategy until 2030;
  • Regularly submitting research for publication in prestigious international journals;
  • Until external research funding is obtained, submitting at least one grant application each year of employment;
  • Submitting a written statement authorizing the Warsaw University of Technology to report the candidates scientific achievements for the purposes of national research quality assessment in the field of legal sciences;

Actively participating in the life of the Department, Faculty, and University.

Specific Requirements

Candidates participating in the competition are required to:

  • completion of higher education and obtaining a masters degree in law or a title equivalent to a masters degree in law awarded in Poland,
  • a postdoctoral degree in law or a degree equivalent to a postdoctoral degree in law awarded in Poland,
  • specialization in research and teaching in the field of public law,
  • high‑quality scientific achievements in the scientific discipline of legal sciences, which, in accordance with the generally applicable principles of scientific activity quality evaluation, will be sufficient to maintain the scientific category of this discipline at the Warsaw University of Technology at a level not lower than the current one,
  • documented teaching experience in Polish or English in legal subjects in the form of lectures, exercises, or classes conducted at postgraduate studies,
  • documented knowledge of English at a level sufficient to conduct classes for students in that language and to engage in international scientific cooperation; knowledge may be confirmed by documented presentations at scientific conferences in English or documented teaching in that language.

Eligibility criteria

Additional advantages will include:

  • academic and teaching specialization in general administrative law, administrative proceedings or new technology law,
  • documented international scientific achievements in the form of: (a) publications in foreign scientific journals included in the current ministerial list of scored scientific journals and (b) level II monographs included in the current ministerial list of publishers of peer‑reviewed scientific monographs,
  • documented experience in managing or implementing research projects as a contractor in competitions announced by the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, the European Research Council, or other domestic or foreign competitions announced by institutions financing science.

Selection process

The Competition Committee, appointed by the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology, reviews all applications submitted in response to the competition, based on the documentation provided. The Committee reserves the right to conduct interviews with selected candidates.

Following its deliberations, the Competition Committee may recommend a candidate for employment or declare that none of the applicants meet the required qualifications.

The Committee communicates the outcome of the competition to the Dean, providing a detailed justification of its decision.

The result of the competition procedure, along with the rationale, is announced and made publicly available for a period of 30 days through the following channels:

  • Official notice boards at the Warsaw University of Technology,
  • The University’s Public Information Bulletin (BIP) website,
  • The website of the Ministry supervising higher education institutions.

The final result of the competition, including the Committee’s justification, is submitted to the Rector by the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.

The recommendation issued by the Competition Committee constitutes a formal prerequisite for initiating the employment procedure. This procedure is launched by the Dean of the Faculty.
