Offer Description

The Institute of Environmental Engineering at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) is looking for candidates with a doctoral degree in technical, agricultural or earth sciences to fill a full-time associate professor position in the Department of Hydrology, Meteorology and Water Management. The role involves conducting research and teaching in meteorology and climatology. We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are keen to develop their professional qualifications in the respective fields (e.g. by applying for external funding), and who have excellent teamwork capabilities. There will also be opportunities to join ongoing national (NCN) and international (Horizon, LIFE) research projects within the department, subject to the candidates interests and qualifications.

Skills/Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following characteristics:

  • PhD in technical, agricultural or earth sciences (preferably Environmental Engineering or Earth Sciences).
  • Scientific interests in meteorology (e.g. air pollution) and climatology (e.g. climate change and its effect on hydrological processes).
  • A scientific record including at least four publications or monographs published in journals or publishing houses listed in the relevant MNiSW register.
  • Good knowledge of English and Polish (at least B2 level) for speaking and writing, enabling the writing of scientific publications and teaching.
  • Computer skills in GIS and CAD software, as well as basic programming skills (e.g. R, Python or Matlab).
  • The candidate must demonstrate proven experience of teaching meteorology- or climatology-related courses to BSc or MSc students.

Specific Requirements

The role involves teaching meteorology, climatology and related subjects to BSc and MSc Environmental Engineering and Environmental Protection students. Most teaching will be conducted in Polish, with some additional courses in English. The expected number of contact hours is 240 per academic year.
