Associate, Middle Office I role at BNY.
Responsibilities
- Check the work of less experienced staff and provide guidance to them.
- Manage new security, funds, and account setups and maintenance across different platforms.
- Match trades booked by clients against executing brokers’ trade confirmations.
- Agree settlement details with counterparts.
- Process cash instructions with Standard Settlement Instructions (SSI) validation.
- Perform daily cash, trades, and position reconciliation.
- Research and resolve breaks between clients and brokers’ data.
- Research and resolve complex operational or client issues; assist in identifying trends and proposing solutions.
- Provide status updates on problem resolution and outstanding issues to other teams; direct inquiries to appropriate BNY Mellon resources.
- Assist with process improvement by contributing ideas to improve team efficiency.
- Take responsibility for the quality and completion of own work; help develop and contribute to the achievement of team objectives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Financial Services preferred (2-3 years).
- Advanced knowledge in capital markets and financial instruments (equities, fixed income, money market, and derivatives).
- Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Fluent spoken and written English language skills.
- Ability to withstand work pressure and deliver with speed and accuracy.
- Critical thinking skills, ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Flexibility towards tasks assigned, job timing, and scope of responsibility; confidence in making decisions of slight to moderate financial impact.
- Experience in spoken and written client communication.
- Experience in projects is an additional asset.
