The R&D Master Data team collaborates across the whole AstraZeneca to drive innovation through improving the quality of our data products by institutionalizing Master Data centricity across the organization.

We are building the Centre of MD Excellence whose primary role is to deliver on the MDM roadmap, implementing centralized master data management across new MD domains. This is where the role of MDM Business Analyst is needed: you will be working with various cohorts of SMEs, reviewing and improving their data, assessing and re-engineering their processes so as to build the most complete and accurate master data sources managed and governed by the effective processes.

Typical Accountabilities

Master Data Management

Implementation of the data-centric MDM eco-system as per the agreed roadmap. For this:

1. Define and prioritize business requirements relating to Master Data capabilities using BA best-practice techniques. Provide related expertise to support internal partners with shaping their projects. Skill: Business requirements elicitation and analysis.
2. Ensure the vertical traceability of requirements from top-level objectives down to executable iterations for new data content, new or enhanced processes, or new solution features. Provide strategic support to the leadership: formulating, aligning, and implementing an MDM vision, roadmap. Skill: Business requirements mapping and analysis.
3. Model business processes of as-is and to-be states that enable efficient, scalable, and sustainable master data governance routines to be developed and embedded in AZ R&D. Own, support, lead the development and instigate continuous improvement of Master Data Management processes. Skill: process mapping and process analysis.
4. Apply business acumen, collaboration skills along with subject matter expertise to effectively broker resolutions of ambitious priorities across critical data domains/critical data elements. Facilitate/be directly involved in data migration activities.
5. Ensure effective collaboration with SMEs and Information Architects to support the development of conceptual models, business glossaries, and ontologies.
6. Collaborate with business partners and influence discussions to contribute to the design and implementation of data standards and quality management framework as well as the relevant metrics.
7. Facilitate Data acquisition, validation, standardization, enrichment, entity resolution.

• This is NOT either a finance role or an IT role; we are not looking for SQL/Python/R programmers, platform engineers, application and technology architects, data scientists, or finance specialists.
• This role is NOT assuming direct line management or reports.

Please review carefully essential skills and experience below.

• You have worked in the pharmaceutical industry/biochemistry/life sciences for several years and obtained profound experience in dealing with specifics of this field.
• You possess an in-depth understanding of one or more disciplines, ideally residing in the areas like Regulatory, IDMP, Authorised Product MDM Governance, Stewardship, Investigational Product, Drug Discovery and Development, Drug Manufacturing, PQ CMCCRO management, etc.
• You are a Subject Matter Expert, having gained your expertise through your on-the-job experience within pharma/biochemistry MD domains, such as Pharmaceutical Product, Medicinal Product, Substances, Ingredients, Study Sites/Investigators, etc.
• You have an analytical mind, enjoy working on complex process/data/design problems and as part of your current or one of your past jobs, you reviewed processes and data flows, trying to pinpoint shortcomings and inefficiencies, had interactions with stakeholders at different levels/brokered alignment between parties on disparate priorities/drove collaboration with business partners to implement relevant improvements.
• You performed data analysis to tackle data quality issues, worked on data profiling and cleansing, designed and implemented data governance around data domains of your responsibility.
• You have a master data stewardship background in the biopharma industry, having delivered multiple types of data stewardship services on a BAU basis as well as having a solid track record in process/DQ improvements.

Essential:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Science, Informatics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field.
• BA qualification from either the IIBA or BCS.
• TOGAF certification.
• DAMA certification.
• Data Governance and Data Management education and certifications.
• Solid understanding of one of the industry best available MDM solutions – Reltio (ideal), Informatica, SAP, Oracle, etc.
