Researcher Profile: First Stage Researcher (R1)

Position: PhD Position

Overall, this position is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Candidate in the GREET Doctoral Network (Generative Explainee-aware Explainability and Transparency in Proactive Cyber-Physical Eco-Environments). The GREET Network brings together 13 leading universities, research institutes, and companies across Europe to train researchers in generative AI‑driven, explainable and proactive cyber‑physical systems (CPS) with applications in Industry 5.0, healthcare, smart cities, robotics, and elderly care.

Your Role

You will join the Computer Science Faculty research group at Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology as a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Doctoral Candidate, supervised by Prof. Rafał Kozik, Prof. Marek Pawlicki and Prof. Michał Choraś.

Your project will focus on:

  • Defining and developing solutions for xAI-based cybersecurity
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of an AI-based intrusion detection pipeline
  • Evaluating trust, transparency and usability in a real‑world cyber‑physical environment
  • Investigating novel, trustworthy AI paradigms
  • Conforming to agile software development principles

Your Profile

The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on higher education and science, and the following qualification criteria:

  • MSc (or equivalent) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong programming skills (Python, ML/AI frameworks such as PyTorch/TensorFlow).
  • Background in at least one of: cybersecurity, neural networks, cyber‑physical systems, or explainable AI.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • IELTS score at least 6.5 (with each component ≥ 6.0) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Mobility requirement: must not have resided or carried out main activity in Poland for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to recruitment.
  • Applicants must not already hold a doctoral degree.

We Offer

  • Number of available positions: 1
  • Employment for 36 months, including a 3‑month probation period.
  • Competitive MSCA salary of €2,971.41/month (adjusted by the Polish correction coefficient).
  • Mobility allowance €710/month and family allowance €660/month (if applicable).
