The investigator will function as an independent researcher who manages self‑funded programs. The role will be responsible for successfully preparing research proposals, planning and conducting experiments, interpreting and reporting results, and managing research staff.

We offer one position for Assistant/Research Assistant (Research scientist R1) in plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology at the The Franciszek Górski Institute of Plant Physiology Polish Academy of Sciences (IPP PAS), 30‑239 Krakow, Poland.

The Franciszek Górski Institute of Plant Physiology (IPP PAS, https://en.ifr-pan.edu.pl) is a scientific institution of the Second Division of Biological and Agricultural Sciences (https://institution.pan.pl/index.php/institution/institutes/48-division…) of the Polish Academy of Sciences, specializing in basic and applied plant physiology. The main research interest of the Institute is ecophysiological factors influencing plant productivity. Research is mainly conducted on crop plants, but some experiments are also carried out on selected model plants and photosynthetic microorganisms such as algae and cyanobacteria. The Institute consists of 5 working groups, known as departments: the Department of Developmental Biology, the Department of Stress Biology, the Department of Cell Biology, the Department of Ecophysiology, the Department of Biotechnology, and the Joint Laboratory of Enzymatic Biotechnology and Catalysis. The Institute’s scientists have built up an extensive co‑operation network at local and international level. It also co‑operates with breeding stations throughout Poland. The IPP PAS is well equipped for research in the fields of plant physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology and has sufficient laboratory and office space, as well as a state‑of‑the‑art facility for plant breeding and microorganism cultures.

Education Level: Master Degree or equivalent

Requirements for a candidate:

1. Holds at least a master’s degree, a master’s degree in engineering, or an equivalent qualification in agricultural, biological, or related sciences.
2. Has knowledge enabling them to conduct research in plant physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and plant biotechnology.
3. Possesses the knowledge and skills to use analytical and statistical tools and to prepare scientific reports and publications.
4. Has a command of spoken and written Polish and a very good knowledge of English, enabling them to conduct scientific work in an international research team.

Specific Requirements

Specific requirements for a candidate:

1. Research achievements demonstrated by publications, with those in high‑impact journals especially desirable.
2. Participation in national or international conferences and completion of national or international research internships.
3. Knowledge of plant physiology, genetics, molecular biology, and plant biotechnology, including practical experience with methods such as real‑time PCR, Western blotting, in vitro cultures, UV‑VIS spectrophotometry, native protein electrophoresis, and genetic transformation of plants using Agrobacterium sp.
4. Knowledge and practical skills in conducting basic bioinformatic (in silico) analyses.
5. Willingness to undertake a long‑term internship abroad.
6. Creativity, independence, openness to new challenges, and strong planning and research skills.
7. Ability to work as part of a team.
8. Good manners.
