Offer Description

Outstanding research activity in the field of economics and finance. Publication of the results in reputable scholarly journals of substantial international standing, particularly, in high‑scoring journals specified in the list of scientific journals and peer‑review international conference. Obtaining funding for research projects in grant competitions.

The selected candidate will teach courses at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw as an assistant professor with a total teaching load of 210 hours a year, including classes for 1st and 2nd degree students, BA seminars, MA seminars and/or specialist classes. The selected candidate is expected to teach courses on topics in the field of quantitative finance, machine learning and data science. Courses should be offered in Polish and/or English.

Academic organizational activities, including: involvement in the work of selected university and departmental committees; guidance and involvement in the research of junior university staff; and contribution to international scholarly endeavours (editorial and review work, conferences, etc.).

  • significant scientific achievements;

Academic track record (must have):

  • ability to conduct research in economics and finance and teach courses in economics and finance, particularly in the areas of quantitative finance and machine learning;
  • outstanding achievements in the discipline of economics and finance relatively to the candidate’s stage of the professional career, measured predominantly in terms of articles published in reputable journals of substantial international standing;
  • international experience (including cooperation with established scientists from foreign research institutions and participation in international projects and conferences);
  • teaching experience (preferable experience in conducting classes in the field of quantitative finance and machine learning);
  • knowledge of the English language at a level sufficient to teach at undergraduate and graduate level;
  • very good knowledge of R and Python programming languages in the areas of algorithmic trading and modelling of market risk;

Specific Requirements

  • other significant achievements (e.g., awards, scholarships) and experience (e.g., editorial work for reputable journals of substantial international standing);
  • excellent research activity (including research funding obtained, research projects led);
  • other special achievements (e.g., awards, scholarships).
