Offer Description

The competition is open to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria specified in Articles 113 and 116(2) of the Law on Higher Education and Science, as set out in the Act of 20 July 2018:

  • holding a doctoral degree in the social sciences or humanities obtained no earlier than seven years prior to the year of employment in the project;
  • having obtained a doctoral degree at an institution other than the one implementing the project, or having completed a continuous and documented postdoctoral internship of at least 10 months at an institution other than the one implementing the project, in a country other than the one where the doctoral degree was obtained. The project manager must not have been the supervisor or co‑supervisor of the candidates doctoral dissertation;
  • experience in scientific work, particularly publishing research results in journals and magazines included in lists used to evaluate scientific quality. Minimum requirements: one article in a journal with a minimum score of 100 points, or two articles in journals, one with a minimum score of 70 points, or authorship of a scientific monograph in the two years before the competition announcement;
  • proficiency in spoken and written English.

Specific Requirements

  • research interests in contemporary history, particularly the intellectual history of the Cold War;
  • experience of working in interdisciplinary teams or conducting interdisciplinary research based on historical material, particularly with regard to the sociological analysis of networks (including academic and expert networks);
  • good organisational skills and ability to work in a team;
  • during the period of full‑time employment on this project, the candidate must not be employed by another employer on the basis of an employment contract (including an employer based outside Poland) and must not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under NCN competitions;
  • Languages: ENGLISH – Level Good.

  3. information about the candidates scientific, teaching and organisational achievements;
  4. information about the candidates research plans, indicating the expected results;
  5. a statement confirming that KUL will be the candidates primary place of employment;
  6. a statement confirming that the candidate meets the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science;
  7. references and an opinion on aptitude for scientific and teaching work.

Selection Process

The first stage of the competition process involves the formal verification of the documents submitted. Offers that pass this stage are subject to a substantive assessment, which may include an interview conducted in person or via electronic communication channels. Prior agreement on the date will be sought from the candidate.

Resolution of the competition does not result in the establishment of an employment relationship.

The final decision on employment is made by the Rector.

The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.
